Make & Take Mini Water Lily Pin Class with Ania Knap

Ania's Class/Demo is Saturday morning.

The cost of the class includes a pattern with three mini water lily pads of different shapes, so that students can choose which they like best, or hook all three. In addition to the pattern, supplies provided include beads and backing for creating the flower, cut green wool strips and a pin back to complete assembly. Beading needles will be provided for students to use during the class. We will complete creating the beaded flower and begin hooking the leaf. I’ll show you how to prepare the piece so you won’t have to whip the edge, and the following day you’ll finish by attaching the pin back and do the final cutting.

Ania Knap is a McGown certified rug hooking teacher. Her love of color and eye catching combinations drive her passions for artistic creativity. Her PhD in chemistry and artist’s view combine synergistically to define her unique way of looking at symmetry, contrast and color; her teaching offers students a new perspective on design and execution. Classes she has taught in stained glass rugs inspired her to reinterpret Tiffany methods for stained glass, from the turn of the last century, to new wool dyeing methods. Ania’s invention of Shimmer and Metallic wools has introduced new materials to the rug hooking enthusiast to achieve dichroic and holographic effects in their creations - to evoke visions of stained glass, glistening rivers and reflected sun, feathers of beautiful birds or just the right shiny bit that inspires the viewer to take a second (and maybe a third) look. In addition to stained glass rugs, Ania has taught classes in color planning, fine and contour shading in wide and narrow cuts, torn strips, creative stitches, monochromatic rugs, and a wide variety of dyeing methods. She frequently mixes cuts, ranging from #2 to #8 to obtain the desired effect in her pieces.
